Our weekend Mission

no p -word talk but baby prep talk

OK our bedding arrived yesterday and I truly just think it's adorable. I am very fond of it. After a much debated crib/bassinet/convertible crib conversation, we have decided to go with just a plain ole crib. So the great debate goes as follows:
My parents were originally going to buy us the nursery set. My father has now decided that my son (his first grandchild and first the boy on our side of the family in quite some time) needs a toddler race car bed. Think we are skipping a few steps? I mean, I do, but do not care to crush his excitement at all. SO whatever ... he instructed me not to buy a convertible crib because as soon as a toddler bed can be used, he is buying the race car bed ...

A few weeks ago E's mom called him and told him that she found a crib/changing table at a yard sale and wanted to buy it for us. He nicely explained to her that we wanted new furniture. Last night we were discussion that we really need to start crib searching and that maybe his mother would like to send us the money she was going to spend on the yard sale pieces to us and we could use her money to put toward our crib purchase. I didn't think he would really call and ask nor did I think she would agree to this - BUT He called AND She agreed. Yah I am so grateful.

So this weekend, our mission is to find a sturdy, non convertible, well made standard crib. Now that we have the bedding, I feel more confident in picking out what color will look best. I have lost all imagination apparently. I could not "visualize" what would look best. Usually I am pretty good at picking decor out but recently, I have lost that knack. If you have a suggestion on color, name brand, store, experienced crib purchaser, anything ..please leave me a comment

On a side note - My husband told me that his co-workers were discussing their pregnant wives (because apparently the public safety workers do nothing but pro-create - Lucky, you mean people just decide to have kids???!!) OK sorry ..tangent - all of the men agreed that there is just that "something" about their pregnant wife that makes them think that she is "one haute momma". (that is the g-version of what I was told last night) I just WISH that I could have been a fly on the wall for this discussion. I mean can you really see these guys on duty discussing this??

I love the bedding and love that your father has already decided that his grandson will need a race car bed! how sweet is that?

Good luck finding a perfect crib!

We got our crib at a local children's boutique that I thought would be WAY out of our price range, and it was for the most part, but they had a few cribs we could afford, and it's so cute...but it's convertible. You could always get a convertible crib and not convert it if you just liked the look. I think they tend to be a little nicer looking. Anyway, my cousin got her baby's crib at JC Penney, and it's really cute as well.

That is hilarious! I feel like a whale covered in acne. But my husband thinks I'm beautiful still - I guess that's true love for you.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the bedding btw - excellent choice!!! He is one lucky little boy. My husband wanted to get this ridiculous pirate bed we saw in costco. Needless to say I am thrilled we are having girls so I don't have to have that in my house. The race car bed is cute though!

Your dad is cute! So is the bedding!

I'm laying in bed on the laptop and read this- hubby is next to me reading. I asked "Does me being pregnant make me hotter?"
His answer? "I dunno. A little bit."
I asked why- he doesn't know. Boys are weird.

It sounds like things are really coming together! I keep watching your ticker and you are almost under 100 days!!! It is all so very exciting and I am so happy for you. :)

That is super CUTE bedding! Great choice!

As far as cribs go, I wouldn't waste money on the convertible one either. Our oldest went straight from a crib to a twin size bed with no problems.

We are getting our baby furniture at IKEA. We were told also not to get a convertible crib since you will most likely want to buy something that suits his/her personality when you get to that point. The Ikea furniture was sturdy and inexpensive when we looked at it. I love dark wood but Ikea has only light- which again is fine because its not forever! Good luck crib shopping! Can't wait to hear what you picked and congrats on getting E's mom on your side!!!

Love the bedding. I'm having a terrible time deciding because I have to pick neutral since we won't know what our baby will be until we bring him/her home. Even if we know before the placement, our adoption plans could fall through and I don't want to plan for a girl--all pink--and then the plans fall through and then we end up with a boy. We need to be prepared for either sex. I love your choice, though!

My parents are paying for our nursery set, too. We've found an apparently very popular set at Target that is NEVER in stock at ANY store. Sheesh.
Where are you looking?

[Is it freaking you out that I'm talking to you about baby stuff? 'Cause it's freaking me out a bit.] :)

I absolutely love the bedding! It is SO adorable!!

As far as the crib is concerned, my sister has bought 2 of the same cribs (one for her son, one for her daughter) and it's actually one I picked out back when I was naive and just started ttc. It's a sleigh-like bed that also converts and "grows" with the child. It's called the
Simplicity Ellis 4-in-1 Crib.

Glad that the nursery is coming together. I get headaches just thinking about all of the work that needs to be done on ours! Plenty of time, I guess!

I can't imagine that my husband finds me al that hot right now, unless it's meant as a temperature reference!

I love the bedding!!! It was in the running of the ones that I looked on online. Bravo to another person who is going for something that is not traditional baby decorations!

How did the crib search go? My sister has luckily kept the one she bought for her daughters in the family and now it is ready for me. I am relieved because I simply don't know where to start in that department. When I consider the changing table, etc. I nearly break out in hives. I don't know why buying baby furniture makes me so nervous.....

Thanks for your beautiful comment....

XOXO

HEY - that comment attributed to me (the whale bit, etc.) was not from me. I don't know who posted it but it wasn't from me!!!)
