House Keeping

Due to surgery, We were alittle behind for our 6 month appointment. So, Today at 2 days shy of turning 7 months, We went for his 6 month check up.

The nurse today was not one that I had every seen and quite honestly, I was not thrilled with her. I may not be great at math, but I understand it's need to be exact. With that said, She measured MT poorly. I give her credit that one variable was not her fault. MT has been trying to do crunches (sit-ups) for about 2 weeks now. If he falls over or lays on his back, he tries to sit straight up. It's hilarious to watch, but Not good for getting an exact measurement. So basically, I asked if she could re-do it with him laying flat because he was not straight, he was all scrunched up. She told me that is really wasn't that important and that it's hard to get baby measurements... I was ticked off because, to me, It is important. I wanted to make sure we were still meeting the car seat requirements and for the records. We have been having some eating concerns and I wanted to make sure that his height/weight ratio were not of any concerns for the dr.. So to me, the measurements were very important . But It's over now and I can't do anything about it.

Height: 26.75 inches (i measure him at 28+ inches), Weight: exactly 18 lbs.

Our eating situation: He has had lots of problems eating that I now realize has been credited to all these teeth coming in all at once. He has been pretty (extremely) cranky and I have only been able to get about 4-5oz at a time in him for about a week now. He is doing about 4oz of solids 2 (sometimes 3) times a day. He is doing much better on solids than in the past. We have added yogurt, avocado, and broccoli into the mix. He really seems to enjoy the yogurt.

The dr wants me to try to give him yogurt in the morning. I haven't been able to get any solids in him before noon. I have tried numerous times but he is just not interested. I haven't tried in well over 3 weeks. So next week, I will try yogurt in the am. His bm/formula intake is between 16-21 oz. I offer and offer and I can not get that recommended 24-30 oz in him at all. This is why I was so interested on getting his measurements exact. The dr was not at all concerned and said that if I notice him not gaining any more weight we will worry then. He has only gained 2.75 lbs since his 4 month check up ... She still says it is nothing to be worried with ...

After We came home from the Dr, I was feeding MT solids. I discovered that the poor kid has 2 more teeth coming in. (one already broke through and i missed it-the other is sprouting up now) That makes a total of 6 teeth coming in all at once. (this is why I have been slow to comment and blog for the past few days, sorry i am very behind - he has been clingy... good lord clingy, and just in pain.- Here is why

So that is 4 on top coming in along with the 2 more on the bottom. He is not quite 7 months old yet! and all these teeth ... This will make a total of 8 teeth

As for carseats, I did buy a new carseat. It was our gift to me for christmas. I went with this one. A baby website I frequent had it on sale for the same price as the round a bout, so I ordered it. It was the cheapest option at the time.

My head is spinning, I think that is all I wanted to document ... I will catch up with everyone after I tackle the kitchen and the laundry .. Here is something because you made it through the whole post:

He is so sweet.

Teething must be awful. Poor baby -- I'm in awe of how you take motherhood so much in stride Farah -- I would have no idea what I was doing...

Farah, he is precious! And all of those teeth! Poor little MT!

Will has been having a fussy/clingy week, too, and I just spotted a little red bump on his lower front gum. . . and he has been drooling like a fool. I am convinced he is teething, which accounts for the fussiness and sleep disruption. And that's just ONE tooth - can't imagine how your little guy can handle all of those at once!

Hugs to you both!

Poor kid! It makes my jaw ache thinking of getting all those teeth in at once!! He's making up for it by being cute. ;)

Wow! 8 teeth? We're still working on 3 and 4 at 10 months; I can't imagine the pain he must be in.
As for weight and height - even if he is only the 26.75" that the nurse got, that's the same size my boys are, and he's got an extra pound on them! I wish we lived closer so they could play together. :(

Poor little boy with all those teeth causing him pain. :-( Poor Mamma with all those teeth giving her headaches. ;-)

I love the pic! So sweet and innocent.

What is up with the nurse saying it's not important? WTF? Sure it is! At least the doctor isn't concerned about the eating and weight. I'm sure MT is doing just great!

The nurse at the boys' two week check up was sloppy with her length measurment. The doctor ended up redoing it because she measured Jack as shorter than he was at birth. The doc was pretty sure that babies don't shrink in lenght. Haha! He still said they were barely in the 10th percentile for their age group. That irritated me because I'd just been told the week before that they couldn't tell me what percentile they were in because they weren't to their due-date, yet.

Oh, he's adorable! Poor thing, getting so many teeth at once. Although, maybe it's better to get them all over with at once.

sounds like things are going well!!! the teething has to be just miserable for him, i cannot even imagine how badly that hurts. he looks ridiculously adorable as ever!

I had a nurse do that once, measure my baby incorrectly. When the doctor came in to show me the growth chart, obviously it looked weird. It showed less growth. So she re-measured my baby and turns out she was fine, of course. Just silly nurses not doing their job.

He's just handsome! I can't believe he has 8 teeth already! At 11 months SoBee doesn't even have one - but she's working on it (and I'm praying for several at once).

Wishing you well (and patience!) during this painful time.

Wow wow wow on the teeth! Brooklyn just cut her first tooth last week, just a few days before she turned 10 months. I don't envy y'all.

As far as the weight gain/feeding issues...you know we have been dealing with that all along. Brooklyn has not his 15 lbs yet. She gets baby food once per day and probably 20-24 oz. of milk. That's all we can do. And that's fine with the doctors. It was a victory for us to hit 3rd percentile in weight. She is not going to suffer any brain development problems or anything...it has to be much worse than that. I don't say this to brush off your fears about MT's food intake, just to try to reassure you that he will be okay with the amount he is eating.

Hugs.

I DO understand about the measurements and to a parent that is VERY important. You think the nurse would know and understand that.

so sorry about the teething... I know it is around the corner for AJ.

I LOVE that picture at the end. Just way too cute for words.
