YEAH! Keep the opinions coming about birth control and the mi.nip.ill. I appreciate all opinions. It was so nice to some delurk (as requested)! I am also pretty worried about blood clots - just coming off lo.venox - I need to call and ask about that - it could help me make our decision. I also have this - We could use that as a guide also....
We did not make the road trip today - instead we made a visit to MT's dr. Last night we had a fussy night to the point of unconsolable for 4 hours. We have never had to deal with that - my absolute sympathy to those nodding their head whom have dealt with an unconsoled baby more often than we have ... we tried it ALL nothing worked! I have been noticing boogies and more snorts than normal so last night i figured he was just upset because we actually used the sucky bulb to try and get some snots out. He finally wore himself out and slept most of the night.
When he woke up, I fed him and noticed he was having alot of trouble breathing and thus trouble eating. I was concerned because he was so frustrated he did not want to finish eating. He managed to go back to sleep and when he woke up for his next feeding - same thing ... trouble breathing, and not wanting to eat. So I called the ped, she wanted to see him, SO i showered, he napped, i tried to feed him again - and he was very happy to eat = he ate it all -no trouble eating ore breathing .. but we went to the visit anyways.
He weighed in at 10lb 11oz! What a lil butterball!!! His ears, nose and throat were all clear - no sign of congestion at all - so apparently - I am just neurotic. BUT I did learn that you are supposed to use saline drops when you try the sucky bulb up the nose .... so we went and bought these. (suggested by the dr) and a cool mist humidifier. I haven't bought the humidifier yet - we also have not had any more breathing/feeding problems.
Thank you so much for the kind words, prayers, thoughts for my mom - Basically, the Dr's believe it to be a hormonal disturbance or imbalance and are trying to figure out what is best for her - (which is what I have been saying it was all along to my dad since it all started around the same time as menopause) - She has been under care for a week and should be coming home very soon. Thank you for all being so kind ... I guess I better go make dinner before E gets home so we can enjoy spending time with each other.

I glad that he is okay. Lyla had the same problem and the cold mist humidifier really helped. !0 lbs and 11 oz?? what a big baby boy!!!!
I'm glad it looks like your mom is doing better.
How funny/ strange that our babies experience their first bout of congestion at the same time! T is using nasal saline drops and a warm steam vaporizer (our ped. didn't specify warm or cool- I hope it works!). I am glad to hear your mom is coming home soon and that MT is feeling better. :)
Hope everything is well with your mom, glad she'l be returning shortly.
10lbs 11oz's, good for him! Glad he;s doing okay.
Take care.
Sorry I'm behind in blogland - but I'm getting caught up slowly. Poor little MT - I hope he continues to feel better soon. You're such a good mom and very attentive - it sounds like you're a "natural" sweetie :-) Your pediatrician sounds really nice too - I need to start looking at one. I hope things continue to improve with your mom - that has to be such a bumpy road for the whole family. I will keep her and the rest of your family in my thoughts and prayers. ((hugs))
prayers for your mom. glad baby boy is well! he's getting so big!
We use a gentle saline spray made for babies that seems to work much better. We've used drops on both girls, but this spray (more of a mist really) often enough just works on it's own.
I hope your Mom will be doing better soon. Sounds like a terribly tough situation for everyone.
Glad Mom is feeling better and also glad that MT is doing okay! Hope the humidifier does the trick!
Glad your mom is feeling better and so glad MT is okay. I have heard those cool mist things work very well!
hope the little guy feels better soon. Maybe his congestion had somethind to do with the airconditioning. When we have the airconditioning on here, I wake up with a slight bit of congestion. Once I get up, it seems fine. So maybe it has something do with that. you live in FLorida so I am sure the ac is a major priority.
Glad to hear your mom is doing a little better too. Maybe now that they have a better diagnosis, they can treat her with proper medicines to help her.
What about Nuvaring birth control?
So glad to know that mom and MT are doing better!
I was on the minipill for 4 years and it screwed up my cycles BIG time once I was off. Yes, most doctors tell it won't but it did it to me. I would NEVER NEVER take it again.
I would say go with your guts and decide for what you think is BETTER for you in your situation.
