Hodge Podge

1- WARNING TMI Alert- The past week I noticed my nips were getting more and more sore after every pump. I chalked it up to using a new pump. Yesterday I went back to pumping on the symphony. A few pumps into it and I noticed that my left nip started to bleed. I am not sure why but I called E's name and he came over after that I have no real recollection of what happened until I found myself laying in my bed. Apparently, *or obviously) I passed out. It was NOT that much blood at all. it was a teeeny weeny droplet. I am unsure if it was from the pain, the blood, the stress I have been under lately or what. After I was told was happened and collected myself, I drank LOTS Of water and relaxed the rest of the day.
*After a few phone calls, message boards and emails, I have decided it was a combination of the new pump rubbing my skin so I need new bigger horns, and I believe to have yeast. My stored supply may take a dip since I was so traumatized yesterday I didn't pump at all after the big drama. Thank God my husband was home. Please let me and my body be up and running again soon. I am using this .. So We are all purple ..

2- I have this stroller, It is great. I have not had any problems with it. It is definitely a light weight stroller and we enjoy it often .... BUT I keep eyeing this other stroller. I go walking pretty much every day and I can see the lightweight stroller is not made for this type of activity. I am obsessing this one at the moment. Anyone have any comments about this one? Or Suggestions for a good one.

3- My mother is not doing well again. Hormones are evil.. Multiple Dr's still think this was brought on by me.nopau.se. School has started and of course, it had to be an ordeal. They built a new school, she had to re-set up her brand new classroom. No chalkboards and overhead projectors. All new technology and gizmo's. *this is a woman who hates email and computers. So she is overwhelmed trying to learn the new technology .. THEN worse part, They received a new curriculum. She is having to read and do all new curriculum and she is so far overwhelmed she is having panic/anxiety attacks. Once again, we are in the process of weaning her off a med in order to put her on a different (hopefully better) one. The Dr's agreed that she was being over medicated, So they want to bring her dose down so they can start her on a different kind of med. A mood stabilizer. I really do hope she finds comfort in this new drug. I am told that getting her on this new med will take 2 months if all goes well. I am SO not looking forward to me.nopause .. Frankly I am quite scared of what this means for me.

4- We have been using cloth diapers of and on for a week now. I have to say, I am a HUGE fan. We have In.dian prefol.ds and b.umm.is covers , bu,mge.nious 3.0's m and g diapers. My favorite is the bumgenious'. They are expensive for a set up cost, but SUPER absorbent and very durable and easy to clean. I have a few leaks with the g diapers, but that is mostly because of the breastfeeding. It really doesn't seem that taxing to me to wash them. I know lots of people say they are such a pain. I guess you could say they are an inconvenience because you have to carry it around until you get home, but is that really a huge deal?

Well, Laundry is done, dishes are clean, but ti.vo is full.. Going to clear it off and put my feet up

Blood is scary! I had a little bit too the other day. Everything has healed up since then, I let them air dry as much as possible (at home) and used a little bit of lansinoh every time I got dressed so they wouldn't be aggravated by rubbing against clothing. Good for you resting and putting your feet up. YOu need a break!

Sorry your mom is having such a stressful time :-( Hugs!

1 - That happened to me a few times when I was pumping at work. For me, it always seemed to be a result of me using too much suction on my pump. It's still scary though.

2- If I were you, I wouldn't get more than one of each type of stroller. If you already have a light weight, I wouldn't get another one. If I were you, I'd got for a jogger with a swivel wheel. It is a MUST, seriously. I got to where I only used my jogger...took it everywhere with me...perfect for the beach. Plus, I'd invest in a good umbrella stroller if I were you...that's about all I use now that I had to sell my jogger.

3- I'm sorry your mom isn't doing well. I know I've mentioned before that my dad has some problems as well, so I know how it feels when you hear their hormones are out of whack yet again (thyroid for my dad mostly). Hopefully, they'll get it all worked out soon and she'll feel better and much less overwhelmed.

4 - Keep me informed on the cloth diapers. I kind of feel like I'm going to have to use them with twins since disposables are so expensive (and I'm still buying diapers for Lila...diapers x 3!). I'm most interested in the all in ones like Bu.m Ge.nius, but I've had a friend lend me some other brand to give a shot in the beginning just to see if I think I can handle it.

YIKES! I've been having some pain too when I pump...I guess I need to reduce the suction for a bit. I give you a lot of credit for doing cloth diapers, I just don't think I could add that onto my plate at the moment. Lemy is enough to keep me busy and I barely get to do any laundry at all. Bleh.

Thinking of you and your mom. ((HUGS))

I think you should get a new stroller if you will use it everyday. Totally worth it.

Sorry about your mom - I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers and I hope things smooth out soon with her. I also hope that's the last time you have to worry about anything scary while pumping...it does sound like a scary thing to see - and least it would be for me. Hang in there and I'm always thinking of you ((hugs))

Wow!!!... It seems BF is just full of everyday challenges. I am also having problems due to plugged ducts, and I am starting to get desperate!

I believe you have already done so, but kellymom.com has plenty of information and tips.

I am so sorry your mom is having such a hard time. It is always difficult for adults to adjust to new tech gadgets. I really hope it gets better!

About the stroller, since the beginning I decided that my priorities were good suspension, turning system, and able to take it on long walks/jog. I ended up getting an expensive one (Quinny Buzz) and I am extremely happy with it.

We use cloth diapers too! I love Bu.mmies, and also Ni.kky covers are great (but usually best for newborns). Lately I'm all about the Bum.kins all-in-ones that are easiest of all. Love cloth! And, they are way cuter than disposables.

Stroller - me, I've been a big, big fan of Mac.Lar.en. We have a Triumph that was really put through it and still is fine (in need of a wash, but fine).

Also, Lansinoh makes breastfeeding pads especially for sore and sensitive nipples. I use them all the time because they are so soft and nice.

Yay cloth diapers! I love the Bum Genius pocket diapers (I have only one), and also Haute Pockets... I'm mostly using the prefolds with prorap covers, and one nice Bummis superwhisper wrap cover... but the coolest thing I noticed is that cloth diapers contain blowouts MUCH better than disposables. We still use disposables at night. Also I started drying the prefolds on a clothesline and the sun always bleaches them completely clean.

I think I have the type of stroller you want and I like it. But its still difficult to use on sidewalks because of all the bumps. What don't you like about yours? I am sorry about the nip situation! That stinks!

I'm sorry about what your mom's going through. I know this can't be even remotely easy on any of you.

Patrick and I have (kind of) talked about cloth diapers and I've pretty much decided that's a route I want to go when we finally bring our little one home. I've read about the bumgenious ones and it seems like they're so much easier than the older versions. I've even put a bug in my mom's ear and am hoping she spends the dough to buy the first couple set-up packs hah
