Oh the glamour

Yesterday, My sister called and asked if we would meet My family for greek food. *we live in a small greek community with excellent good greek food*. Since we had all had turkey and dressing and every vegetable known to man for the past 2 days. Greek food sounded wonderful. So E and I went up and met my Mother, Father, Grandmother, Sister and Boyfriend for lunch. I ordered my usual and a salad. After dinner I asked for a piece of gum due to the LARGE quantity of garlic in the food. The gum was minty flavored and started to turn my stomach a little. I ignored it and went to the grocery store to pick up things for dinner last night. In the grocery store .. things just smelt AWFUL ... i was rushing to get everything we needed and i kept telling E ... I think I am going to "lose it" but I didn't want to because it just felt like "losing it" was going to be worse the second time around. ....... Well we made it out of the grocery store and I had been trying to convince myself to keep it down... Finally, I spit out the gum -because I was just convinced it was the gum .... I yelled at E to pull over quickly and on the side of the road, I lost my lunch .... then the unthinkable happened .... My stomach was spazzing so much that the added pressure totally made me pee myself ............... I was mortified at the time ... because some man pulled over to make sure that we were ok and offered us to come into his house (that we were in front of) to use the rest room. What a kind man... E stated "I am sorry sir, my wife is pregnant and just ate Greek food" ....Anyway, I get back into the car, make it to my parents house, wash my clothes and say goodbye to my sister and her boyfriend. ... .. I guess this is the not so glamorous part people leave out in all those fairy tales huh .... It still makes me laugh about it though ..\

*on a side note- after i realized that I went to a greek restaurant had greek salad and ate Feta cheese..I had a melt down .. It's a soft cheese that I totally forgot about at the moment of being hungry.... I only ate a very small amount but ...freaked out none the less ..

The lo.ve.nox shot are breezy as long as ice is applied and the shot enters my body very slowly! Only one side of my belly bruises.

Don't worry about that cheese. You're one of those overly cautious eaters when you're pregnant, like I was, and it's only b/c it took us a long time to achieve it. I've watched other women eat much more scary things and on a frequent basis. One time is no biggie.

Aw that sucks! Mint can make me lose it too if I'm already close to feeling sick. I think I've read that about it somewhere.

Uggg...sorry lunch didn't sit well with you!

And with the cheese, most soft cheeses in the US are pasturized, it's the un-pasturized soft cheeses that you should stay away from (I check b/c there is no way I could live without brie)

Barfy! That is a funny story but I bet it wasn't funny at the time! Sounds like your m/s is WAY worse than mine! The worst I have had is the dry heaves. I hope that you have a good week!

Well...on the bright side, this will make a great "when I was pregnant with you...." story for your little one some day in the future. And definitely don't sweat the feta cheese thing...I did the same thing early on. There are just so many "no's" in eating it's hard to remember them all at the right moment. I also know ladies who ate the soft cheeses throughout their whole pregnancies without any issues. I'm sure you'll be just fine :-)

ack! sorry you had to go through the experience, but it will be funny to tell the little one some day!

i agree with the other posters- don't worry about that little bit of feta. i am pretty sure that most restaurant cheeses are pasturized & you are fine. heck- even if it wasn't there is such a small chance of getting sick from it that it's no big deal.

Everyone else already gave the same advice I would about the cheese...so yeah!...what they said. ;-)

I am so sorry that you had to go through that whole out-both-ends ordeal. :-( No one ever mentioned how all the not-so-fun parts of pregnancy can attack you all at once. (((hugs))) At least you're sharing so if anyone who has a similar experience reads it, they won't feel alone. :-)

That rocks that you've got the lo.ve.nox shot down! Yay!!! <3

Don't sweat the cheese, it's unlikely a tiny one-off dose will be a problem.

Sorry about the pukey-pee experience, it really doesn't sound glamourous at all.

Dont worry about the cheese!

I'm with you on the mint. I can't handle it. I had to buy mint toothpaste this past week (we usually get cinnamon) and it's all I can do to use it and spit it out as quickly as possible. ICK!!!

ugh! I'm so sorry- what an awful day! I hope you're feeling better by now!

And I did the same thing with soft cheese a few weeks back. And the other night when I had wings with blue cheese (I was in Buffalo, afterall!).

Does not sound fun! I was wanting Greek food recently, but maybe I'll reconsider. I wouldn't worry too much about eating a bit of feta once.

had a similar reaction to toothpaste when I had OHSS in one of my earlier cycles. one of the best tools to take through life, is a sense of humour & the ability to laugh at yourself. Glad you got those

oh sweet pea. that sounds just awful. it may have been the gum. i can't chew it in the car because it makes me car sick. blech.
yeah, it doesn't sound very glamorous. but i hope you still held your head high. glamour is all in the mind. i mean, it's not like all of the anorexic models are exactly glam! i saw work those those pee pants girl. : )

I've eaten soft cheese too, unknowingly... or sneakily.. whichever way you choose to look at it.

Sorry you got sick, but in a macabre way also happy... I equate nausea with things going well and am almost jealous that I have had none.

By the way, greek food... yummmmm

You need to read Belly Laughs, if you haven't already. There is a scene in which Jenny's husband won't pull into a rest room so she makes him stop the car and she pees in someone's yard.
