Fooodie's

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketOk so I am in need of some help, suggestions, ideas.

We went to the grocery store AGAIN this week ... and I find nothing that is remotely appetizing to eat that is slightly healthy for me. We left with bottled water, pickles, bananas, yougurt, and more uncrustables .... and that's it!

What are you eatting during the day .. give me ideas. I have breakfast covered. I bought raisin Bran and that seems to be ok. Need lunch ideas ... lunch and dinner is where I just lack an appetite and creativity but need to eat ... Breakfast is now just a ritual

You definately don't want any ideas from me! Read my latest post! HA!

Nothing sounds good to me right now. BLAH! I will be reading your comments for

If you can come up with something for dinner, the leftovers can cover you for lunch. That's pretty much the only way I eat lunch. We usually just grill or cook a bunch of chicken or steak one night and then live off that for awhile. A meat and then some veggies is pretty healthy

bananas and more bananas. plain rice and a boiled egg. plain rice and black beans, unseasoned. breakfast cereal. It gets better.

Interesting! I just kind of grab whatever for lunch and dinner is almost always out, so I'm not much help there.

Based on your list, you seem to be drawn to sweet/sour tastes and creamy textures.

Some ideas:
Asian cole slaw (bagged shredded cole slaw mix with asian dressing maybe with some chicken thrown in)
Sweet & sour chicken
Tuna salad on crackers
Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes
Vinegar based potato salad
Nachos with pickled jalepenos
Grilled cheese with pickles
Cuban sandwiches
Couscous with black beans, corn, onion, salt, pepper, red wine vinegar and sugar

And really, you can live on the yogurt and bananas if need be. It will get better dear Farah.

I am coming back here to check these comments, because I'm in the same boat. Breakfast is fine, but the rest of the day nothing sounds good. Wish I could help!!

I have a hard time coming up with ideas for dinner. But pastas are usually something that I am willing to eat without upsetting my stomach. Unfortunately, it in not that healthy!!!

I'm sorry you are having trouble with eating. I didn't have m/s so my eating has stayed pretty much the same. Sorry I am of no help!

I wiqh I could help but I couldnt stomach anything for nearly four months! The only thing I did manage towards the end of my sick period was white bread and a slice of packet chicken breast, for breakfast! It's true, I lived off this for months. Protein is great for the baby, eggs, chicken, meats etc. Bran and all that stuff can wait, it'll only give you heartburn :)

Well, um, I'm probably not going to be of much help in this subject...but I'd try maybe some kind of soup, like veggie? You could fix it in a crockpot and then have some left over for a few days (if it doesn't upset your belly too much). Then you could add some meat in their too. Being someone with reflux problems, I would think that it would be a similar issue with food...so I'd stay away from acidic and spicy stuff. Try not to eat very much before you go to bed. Drink lots of water. Other than that, I have no clue. But I DO hope it gets better for you, I really do:)

If you mean what did I eat when I was pregnant...I don't even remember. I didn't really change my diet too much until they made me go on a GD diet later in pregnancy..which sucked by the way.

I'm jealous. I love raisin bran and I just can't stomach it right now. I've had to resort to bagels with cream cheese (normally not something I would eat).

How about something with brown rice in it? I really like the Lean Cuisine rice bowls and rice based dished, mainly because I really like rice at the moment. Otherwise I bring leftovers or I eat the crap the kids are eating--which is always tasty and lacking in real nutritional value. :P

Good luck!

I am eating almost anything this week. Hot food seems to be best so for lunch I eat a Smartone- my favorite is the santa fe beans and rice. Pineapple is good too. For dinner tonight we are having soup and grilled cheese. Mashed potatoes are yummy too- something about the texture. Good luck!

I don't know about what's good for a pg stomach, but lately I eat a lot of organic fuji or gala apples with all natural (no sugar added) smucker's peanut butter. I can eat that often when my tummy doesn't want anything else. That and Arnold's natural breads.. the health nut one. The one with no additives. And bibb, butter or Boston lettuce used as a wrap for white turkey or chicken with a dab of golden mustard is yummy. GL!

Here is what I am eating:

Bagel with cream cheese and strawberry-champagne jelly

Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies and Swiss Rolls

Keebler Cheese and Peanut Butter Crackers

I am so over this nausea.

I love dried fruit (apricots, cherries, cranberries, etc) and natural coconut and "NO SALT almonds" mixed together in a sort of trail mix.

I also eat Snickers Nutrition Bars because they taste OK and they're pretty decent nutritionally. And they're a no-brainer when you cant think of what to eat.

Other than that, I eat lots of baby carrots without dip. And I like string cheese.

Oh! And snow pea pods. And I always have at least 1 apple.

OK that's it for me. I take the same things to work each day for my lunch, only having a different "main dish"....

Sorry, at that time, I was just eating to SURVIVE! One week, I ate all pizza. Then another Chinese food. I just had to eat whatever repulsed me the least.

I'm sorry that eating has become difficult these days. I would think that some bland starches might be good 'filler' and then maybe adding whatever else you can stomach. ???

what about oatmeal? its so good for you. you can cook it in the slow cooker on the weekends and then eat it all week. it can be bland or quite flavorable depending on how sick you feel during the day.
no matter what, i hope you get some good grub!

They're carb-tastic, but oatmeal & pasta are pretty easy on a quesy tummy & quite versatile. Olive oil & a few veggies or chicken in the pasta, or brown sugar or fruit in the oatmeal. My pediatrician always recommeded the BRAT diet when someone has "flu-ish" symtoms - bananas, rice, applesauce or toast.
You can't go wrong with peanut butter - eat it on an apple or celery instead of bread. You can dip instead of all the work of making a pb sandwich or opening an uncrustable. >: )

One of my husbands' music professors - who was about 110 when she taught him - swore by a handful of plain, unsalted almonds first thing in the morning to ward of the queasies. It worked for me most days.

And, it does get better - this too shall pass.

I eat Club crackers at my desk all day at work. They don't make me at all sick.

Similar to someone else's idea:
I love lunch meat turkey wrapped with provolone and yellow mustard.
This is so unhealthy but sounds so good - tonight I'm having "baked potato pizza." Mmmm....

Ok, here we go...

I'm munching on granola bars (the hard ones, I hate the chewys); almonds and raisins when I'm feeling a PB&J rush but don't want the cards of the breadl kirby cucumbers with salt and fresh squeezed lime; cookie crips with no milk when I need some sweet; pineapple; Fage yogurt with honey (have you tried this yet.. oh my God!); candied cashews; oranges dipped in salt (don't ask); oh and pretzels or lime flavored Tostitos.

Ok, please excuse me while I go raid the pantry.

I remember with my 1st, my most favorite was trail mix (mainly peanuts 'n' raisins) with m&m's in a vanilla yogurt! But that's not dinner. My mom used to walk the frozen ready-made aisle at the store for ideas for dinner.
*Baked potatoes with just about any type of topping or leftovers
*Refried beans with just cheese 'n' chips
Just watch out on the salt (not "Real" or Sea Salt - actually not bad for you) last nite I really overdid it and had Ripples with sourcream that I chopped some onions & added a bit of salt and pepper. The salt from store chips, pretzels(which are awesome with walnuts and cheese) and other salty things will mess up your Potassium (so drink O.J.)Calcium and Magnesium ratios...I woke with shin cramps. I didn't figure this all out til I was expecting #3 and had cramps (charliehorses) from the top of my foot to my thigh (and that's not mentioning what that does to your sciatic nerve)
K, enough science...
*variations on eggs (quiche, omelet, crepes)
Right now, gonna go make pumpkin bread (again) and hopefully tomorrow make some "healthy" regular bread and have those grilled cheese everyone is mentioning!! Hope you get some ideas!
Blessings, Mrs. C.

Hang in there Farah! I know this stage is challenging, there are days when I feel like eating is a chore, but we know it is for such a great cause! :)

Here are some things that have been helping me through the past month or so and when I was pregnant w/ my DS five years ago:

~ Potato chips & lemonade
~ Lemonheads
~ Anything lemon flavored
~ Peanut butter & honey on Ritz crackers
~ Pretzel sticks dipped in Kaukhauna Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese Spread (or soft pretzels w/ the same cheese melted over them)
~ The same cheese spread I mentioned above on Triscuits
~ Graham crackers (honey or cinnamon)
~ Pizza
~ Peanut Butter on Banana
~ Peanut Butter on Granny Smith apples
~ Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (plain or with smoked sausage cut up in it)
~ Tastefully Simple Beer Bread
~ Jolly Ranchers
~ Chewing peppermint gum
~ Nature Vallery Granola Bars
~ Strawberry Pop Tarts
~ Chocolate Shakes
~ French Fries

I know many of my suggestions aren't that healthy, but they work for me and help me to make it through the 1st trimester! ;)

Hope this helps! Bon appetite! ;) Hang in there and I will let you know if I think of anything else...
