The Cone! Yes, It's true. I can't make this stuff up. Now, I am in need of some fashion help. I know there are talented, well dressed individuals out there. At one time, I used to be. Now, I have just given up. I want some cute dresses for the summer. It's going to be Hot and I want to be able to have some type of sundress to wear. That is going to help me stay cool and comfortable, I hope. I know that my waistline is going to be expanding but that doesn't mean I can't look decent right? I am already expanding, so I figured dresses would help. I only have 2 pair of mat. shorts and loads of 3/4 length sleeves shirts/jeans since I was pregnant during the "cool" months and only worried about work clothes.
So basically, I am in need of help... What type of dresses would you suggest for a plus size ice cream cone shaped girl? What are your secrets?
Go with the empress waist. Anything that ties (or similar) right under the breasts. Totally comfortable, keeps the legs cool. I normally avoid this style because everybody who's not a total stick looks pregnant wearing it, but when I actually WAS pregnant during the summer, I lived in these.
ReplyDeleteOh, you lovely cone you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!!!!! Am I allowed to say that? I hope so. I love this news. Awesome. I'm having girl vibes already.
XOXOXOXOX
Hah - I'm in a similar boat. Having been pregnant from August-March last time, and starting in December this time, I have nothing to wear! And these 3 days of 90's are killing me!
ReplyDeleteI usually don't do dresses, but I might have to cave this summer...
Heeeeyyy!!!...
ReplyDeleteHow on earth did I miss your post with the great news???... Congratulations and please, please, please don´t worry, it is going to be tough sometimes but so rewarding so just enjoy!
Wow, MT is becoming a BIG brother, how exciting!
Nicky and I were due the same week last year, and I'll second her advice of the empress waist dresses. I lived in that type of dress last summer. I also bought some skirts with elastic waists (some maternity, some not -- the ones that weren't I just wore below my belly) to wear with maternity tees, but I am definitely more of a pear shape myself, and the knee-length skirt may not highlight your more slender legs as well as it hid my chunky thighs :) As for maternity shorts, I found them to be terrible. Truly terrible. To be avoided at all costs.
ReplyDeleteMaybe something A-line??? I like A-line stuff because it helps to balance out my pear shape, but I think it works well to just make the top and bottom work together better. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll go shopping with you, if you want. Actually, I have to take the dogs to the vet tomorrow in Brandon and I was just planning on walking around the mall (by myself) until they were done.
ReplyDeleteI would go with a waste line that sits under your bust. Also, I don't know if you have one nearby, but I've gotten a lot of dresses and maternity stuff at Ross. It's super cheap, though you have to spend time digging to find things.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bargain shopper, so that's the only secret I have. :)
Good luck!
Ice cream sounds so good! :-)
ReplyDeleteOK, I was not fashion focused when PG with the girls - I was all about comfort. My favorite things were shorts from Motherhood maternity that had the "secret fit" belly panel. They were SO comfortable. They come in plus sizes, too. If I hadn't been on bedrest, I would definitely have lived in empire waist dresses as suggested by others. (Bought some but never wore them in bed!)
I am not so sure what shape I am. I wish we could go shopping together.
ReplyDeleteI've got no assvice, sorry. I'm sure you'll look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'm not good at dresses. But I do love shoes!! I say buy yourself not one but two fabulous pairs of shoes and the dress is sure to follow, LOL!
